Coffee Contemplation Before Work

This morning, before I started my busy Tuesday, I spent a few moments thinking about my works-in-progress, and where to go from here. I wrote a short story about a dragon but am going to have to make it shorter. It is at 1300 words; the venue I want to submit to doesn't want it longer than 800. I would think it would be easier to shorten a story than lengthen one, but this is not the case for this particular story. My goal tonight, after my 'day job', will be to get that story within the criteria for submission.
